How it works in automotive and equipment

Certifications that count

ASE, I-CAR and EPA 609 can be listed with their numbers and count as self-reported. Employers mark a certification required only where the law or a program requires it.

Pay your way

Pay can be hourly or salary, and ranges only have to be close. Tool allowances show as the "Phone and tools" perk.

Apprentices and lube techs

Entry-level listings with Can train skills match people starting out. Mentoring pairs them with a master tech.

Meet at the shop

Hiring meetups are at the shop or a coffee nearby, always in person.

Trade partners

Independent shops, body shops and parts suppliers send each other work, never with a direct competitor in their market.

Service advisors

Service advisors and writers don't have their own checklist yet; pick the closest occupation and your skills list starts from there.

Project and contract work. Fleet maintenance contracts and equipment repairs with a set scope of $2,500 and up run as project work. How project work runs

Questions

Do I need my own tools?

That's between you and the shop. Tool allowances show as a perk, and you can ask at the meetup.

Is flat rate shown?

Pay can be hourly or salary. How a shop pays flat rate isn't a field yet, so ask at the meetup.
